Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Talisa Proctor and I own a women and minority-owned wine bar! I’m also a mom of 2 boys, a wife, and a pup mom of 2.
What made you want to start your own business?
I started my business idea because I felt a need that something elevated was missing in my town. Why should I have to always travel to Boston where my friends and I have to fight for parking and pay expensive cover charges all before we get to enjoy ourselves? I also saw the potential in the city of Taunton, it is such a large city with so much potential.
What do you love the most about owning a business in Massachusetts?
I love that I get to be the place where people are enjoying themselves, a place of joy, a place of relaxation for most groups of women.
What are your favorite small businesses to support in Massachusetts?
Some of my favorites are Yaz’s Table in Abington and Poutine Peddlers in Taunton- all food, I know!
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to never give up, just continue always with one foot in front of the other.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?
It would be to open a mini golf business with food and drinks as a family space and/or a great date night or night with friends.
When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?
Going for nature walks, playing board games with my family, dining out, traveling, and going to museums.
