Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do at your Chamber of Commerce?
I’m Alexandria Eberhardt, a nonprofit leader and advocate dedicated to strengthening inclusive business communities across Massachusetts. In my role with the Chamber, I focus on building meaningful partnerships, supporting LGBTQ+ and allied businesses, and creating programs and events that foster connection, visibility, and economic opportunity. I’m passionate about helping our members grow while advancing equity and collaboration throughout the Commonwealth.
What made you want to work for the Chamber of Commerce?
I was drawn to Chamber work because it sits at the intersection of community, business, and impact. I’ve always been passionate about creating spaces where people and organizations can thrive, and the Chamber provides a unique platform to support local businesses while driving meaningful change. Being able to connect entrepreneurs, advocate for inclusive economic growth, and help build a stronger, more equitable business community is what inspired me to do this work.
What do you love the most about the area where you live in Massachusetts?
I live in Townsend, Massachusetts, in a historic home, and what I love most is the balance it offers. I grew up in Houston, so I really appreciate the charm and pace of a smaller New England town, while still being close to everything; about an hour from Boston and Western Mass, and just a couple of hours from the Berkshires, New Hampshire, or the Maine coast. New England truly has something for everyone, and I love helping others discover and fall in love with it the same way I have.
Why do you think it’s important for everyone to be a member of a Chamber of Commerce?
I believe Chamber membership is important because it creates connection, visibility, and opportunity for businesses of all sizes. Especially this past year, with so much uncertainty and a challenging political climate, being part of a Chamber has meant even more, it’s provided a sense of stability, support, and community when many have needed it most. A Chamber isn’t just a network; it’s a space where businesses can come together, share resources, and advocate for one another. Being part of that kind of community means you’re not navigating challenges alone, you’re surrounded by people who are invested in each other’s success.
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned throughout my career is that you can’t make everyone happy or solve every problem, and that’s okay. What matters is showing up, staying grounded in your values, and doing the work in front of you with integrity. That lesson has been especially real this year, with so many challenges and difficult moments. We’re constantly advocating, problem-solving, and fighting for our businesses to succeed, even when the path isn’t clear. At the end of the day, it’s about doing your best, supporting your community, and continuing to move forward with hope.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?
If I weren’t in my current position, my dream job would still center on community, learning, and impact. I could see myself serving as an elected official, returning to higher education, or starting a consulting firm to help organizations build more inclusive, effective workplaces. I’m also drawn to the idea of working in corporate America in Corporate Social Responsibility or Learning and Development, spaces where I could continue championing equity, supporting businesses, and helping people and communities thrive.
When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring New England, and diving into a good book, especially mystery or sapphic fiction. I also love attending live events, from Broadway Musicals to concerts, and staying connected to my community in more social, creative ways. Whether it’s planning a trip, discovering a new local spot, or just enjoying a quiet moment at home, I value activities that help me recharge and stay inspired.
