BOSTON, MA – The LivSports 24 Hour Hockey Marathon Series is bringing its high-energy, purpose-driven event to Boston’s Warrior Arena on July 11-12, 2026, uniting hockey players from across the region for a powerful cause.
This 24-hour endurance hockey event invites adult players of all skill levels, ages 18 and older, to take the ice in support of LivFree, a childhood cancer nonprofit organization that brings families together through a moment of joy, and Christopher’s Haven, a Boston-based nonprofit that provides housing and a supportive community for families of children receiving cancer treatment at nearby hospitals.
Over 90 adult hockey players will come together to raise funds and play a continuous 24-hour hockey game to benefit the two organizations. Participants will play, eat, and sleep at the ice rink. Players are tasked to raise funds in support of LivFree’s “Moments of Joy” initiative. The program creates meaningful experiences that give children and their families a break from treatment and the chance to make lasting, joyful memories together. This includes providing Moments of Joy for families at Christopher’s Haven. Additionally, 100% of the opening showcase ticket sales will go to support Christopher’s Haven’s mission.
Located in Boston’s West End, near Massachusetts General Hospital, Christopher’s Haven operates nine fully furnished apartments and a community recreation space, offering families a stable, compassionate home during one of the most challenging times in their lives.
Participants in the marathon will be divided into ability-based groups and will rotate throughout the 24-hour event, logging extended ice time while building camaraderie and raising critical funds. All players receive jerseys, meals, and event swag, creating a fully immersive experience both on and off the ice.
An opening showcase kicks off the game and will be open to the public, offering fans a chance to experience the excitement of the marathon while supporting the cause. The event will also feature popular hockey personalities, including Pavel Barber and Olly Postanin, along with kid-friendly activities and opportunities to learn more about the impact of LivFree and Christopher’s Haven.
The Marathon is scheduled to start at 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 11, 2026, and conclude at 12:00 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2026
Tickets for the opening showcase are $20 for adults and $15 for children/students (plus fees), with early bird pricing offering $5 off through May 17. Tickets and full event details, including player registration, can be found at: https://www.livfreetoday.org/24hourhockey-warrior
“This event is about so much more than hockey,” said Jim McCaffrey, Chief Inspiration Officer of LivFree. “It’s about bringing people together to support families facing pediatric cancer.”
“Support from events like this allows us to continue providing a home away from home for families during incredibly difficult times,” said Jim Abbott, President of the Board of Directors for Christopher’s Haven. “We are grateful to be part of an event that brings together community, compassion, and action in such a meaningful way.”
The Boston marathon is part of the larger, 7-stop, LivSports 24 Hour Hockey Marathon Series, a national initiative that brings hockey communities together to raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer support organizations. Another Boston area marathon will be held at Harvard University on August 1 – 2, 2026.
Players of all backgrounds, from recreational skaters to experienced competitors, are encouraged to register and take part in this one-of-a-kind experience. Registration and additional event information can be found at: https://www.livfreetoday.org/24hourhockey-boston.
