Thank you for following along with our Boss in the Bay State series, a monthly blog post that highlights remarkable professionals throughout Massachusetts.

Kathleen, introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Kathleen Ribeiro, founder of KMService, a virtual assistant service for professional women who want to focus on their business and need help staying organized and on track.
I grew up the daughter of Brazilian immigrants, which thankfully gave me my work ethic, sense of adventure, and being bilingual. I now split my time being a nomad, traveling the US in a built-out van.
I’m passionate about my pups, coffee, fictional books, and project management. In my spare time, you can usually find me reading, on a nature walk with my pups, brewing up a pot of fresh coffee, or having a much-needed glass of wine.
I have three offers:
What made you want to start your business?
I wanted to start my own business after running a family business for 10 years. I was not valued or appreciated and wanted more for myself.
What do you love the most about owning a business in or working in Massachusetts?
I love the networking opportunities I have. I am a part of a few groups and love the women and support.
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
Know your worth. Some people will take advantage, especially if they know you are good.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?
Definitely something with animals, maybe a non-profit that helps strays!
When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?
I love reading and going on adventures. From the town park down the street to National Parks across the country, I am always down to see something new.
