Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Doug Wallace, the Founder and President of The Hopeful Elephant Organization (THEO). THEO’s mission is to make the world a better place one conversation at a time.
What made you want to start your own business?
I tragically lost my former co-worker, Nancy Hanson, to domestic violence. Through this tragedy, an idea I was pondering came to life.
What do you love the most about owning a business in Massachusetts?
I love working in Massachusetts because of how supportive the community has been. Besides all my friends and family being in Massachusetts, the public and strangers alike have gotten behind the mission of THEO.
What are your favorite small businesses to support in Massachusetts?
I like to support non-profit and local businesses.
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
Clear and honest communication paves the way toward mental well being.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?
I would love to be a Venture Capitalist!
When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy being active and competitive — playing golf, pickleball, and poker.
