AI Is Great… But Remember Actual Human Relationships

May 25, 2026  |

We’re living in what can only be described as the AI slop era. Content is everywhere. It’s faster, cheaper, and more automated than ever. And while that’s exciting (we love a good efficiency moment), something’s getting lost in the noise: actual human connection.

Human connection that builds trust. The kind that turns followers into clients. The kind that makes someone choose you… especially in service-based industries, where trust is everything.

At Bubbly Creative, we talk a lot about bringing real people back into marketing. It’s been proven time and time again: real people perform better. Always.

If your marketing is starting to feel a little too robotic, here are five ways to bring the human touch back in:

Get Out From Behind the Screen: In-Person Events

Whether you’re hosting your own event or just showing up to someone else’s, it’s important to get out there. AI and tech fatigue is real, and people want to meet other people and confirm their humanity (without selecting which image is a motorcycle).

Shake hands. Make eye contact. Have conversations that aren’t happening in a comment section.

For services in particular, this is gold. You’re not just a service, you’re a relationship. Meeting people in real life builds instant credibility and familiarity that no Instagram post can replicate.

Plus, let’s be honest… your next best client is probably one introduction away, and people buy from people they like… not who sends the best cold email.

Get Your Voice Out There: Podcasts

Yes, AI can clone voices now. Kind of SpOoOky… but the real thing is always going to be better.

Being on a podcast gives people something AI can’t fake: your real thoughts, your tone, your personality, your stories. Don’t tell Chat I said this, but it can’t imitate actual human thought, even with your savviest prompt.

The best part about podcasts is how much content you can get out of them. I like to think that one podcast episode equals:

  • a blog post
  • social clips
  • an email newsletter
  • a little website SEO boost
  • and a backlink

That’s hard to beat!

It’s one of the highest ROI, most human forms of content you can create. (And if you hate writing content? Even better. Just talk.)

Be a Real Member of Your Community

Not just online, but in real life. We all love chatting on Nextdoor or on your town’s Reddit board, but getting out there and meeting others is invaluable. Service providers primarily do business locally, and the best way to engage locally is in person.

Support other local businesses. Show up to community events. Partner with causes you actually care about.

This isn’t just “good marketing”, it’s good vibes. And people can feel that, especially when it’s authentic.

When you’re visibly part of your community, you stop being “just another provider” and start becoming the go-to, trusted name in your space. Also, it can be an incredible PR opportunity without feeling forced.

Bring Back the Handwritten Card

In a world of automated emails and AI-generated messages… imagine getting a handwritten note?! “Cara, Quick Question” just doesn’t seem to hit as hard as someone taking the time (and the sore wrist) to write a card by hand.

It stands out. It feels thoughtful. It feels human.

Whether it’s:

  • Thanking a new client
  • Following up after a consult
  • Reaching out to a dream client
  • Celebrating a milestone

This tiny touch can open doors that a cold email never will. Also, getting mail is fun! If you want to add a treat, even better (I am always accepting treats, for the record).

Partner With Other Businesses

Collaboration is great for all parties involved. Some of the best clients I’ve gotten have come through other businesses in adjacent industries. It’s always a two-way street; they refer you, you refer them, everyone is better for it!

When you partner with other aligned, like-minded businesses, you get:

  • Shared audiences
  • Fresh content
  • New ideas
  • Actual in-person interaction (again, we love)

Think co-hosted events, joint giveaways, content collabs, referral partnerships. It’s not just strategic, it’s fun. And that energy shows up in your marketing.

The Bottom Line

AI isn’t going anywhere—and we’re not saying it should. We use it. We love it.

But if your entire marketing strategy starts and ends with automation, you’re missing the one thing that actually converts: connection.

The brands that win right now? They’re the ones blending smart tools with real, human presence.

Definitely use AI, we love our robot friends. But also, don’t forget to:

Show your face. Use your voice. Be in the room. Write the card. Build the relationship.

Because at the end of the day, people don’t buy from bots. They buy from people they know, like, and trust.

Some great ways to be real and personal – I really love the handwritten note idea. That’s something I use regularly.

Really love these way to be real and personal. I’m especially a fan of the handwritten note, something I’ve been using for years. It really does make a difference and an impact.
