Boss in the Bay State: Hailey Newsome

July 3, 2023  |

Thank you for following along with our Boss in the Bay State series, a monthly blog post that highlights remarkable professionals throughout Massachusetts.

Want to nominate yourself or someone you know to be featured next? Fill out our contact form.

Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Chef Hailey, owner of Little Chefs Cooking Academy. We teach our youth real cooking! We share how to make fresh pasta and homemade marinara, teach knife skills, explain egg preparations, offer sushi making, and so much more.

What made you want to start your business?

We believe that getting the kids involved in the kitchen will make a huge impact on the childhood obesity crisis we’re dealing with in the US. Also, this will give them a jumpstart on a life-long skill.

What do you love the most about working in Massachusetts?

Being a Massachusetts native, I just love it here — especially experiencing the seasons and the recipes that you can enjoy for each season.

What are your favorite small businesses to support in Massachusetts?

I love supporting the mom-owned businesses. When I spend money with them, I know that it’s funding a gymnastics class or some other activity for their family.

What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

Always be open and have fun.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?

I’m also a travel agent so I’d just do more of that!

When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?

I love spending time with my daughter and exploring Massachusetts.

Thank you for sharing more about yourself! Tell us how we can get in touch with you or find you online.

You can learn more about Little Chefs Cooking Academy via their website and their Facebook page.
