Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do?

I’m Meri, a high-end luxury photographer specializing in Motherhood and legacy family photography in Boston and the South Shore. My work is centered around capturing the beauty and connection of your family’s unique story—from the anticipation of pregnancy to the milestones of childhood and beyond.

I believe in creating more than just photographs; I craft timeless, heirloom-quality artwork that preserves the essence of your family’s love and legacy. Every session is a carefully curated experience, designed to be serene, luxurious, and uniquely tailored to you.

As your family grows and evolves, I strive to become more than just a photographer. My goal is to be an extension of your family, capturing every precious chapter of your story and turning those fleeting moments into enduring treasures.

In a world of fleeting digital images, I’m passionate about delivering tangible, meaningful pieces that adorn your walls and fill your heart—ensuring your legacy is preserved for generations to come.

It would be my honor to help you document life’s most precious moments and create an everlasting legacy for your family.

What made you want to start your business?

My love for creating art and preserving memories began in childhood, inspired by the countless photo albums my parents kept of my sister and me. When I became a mother, I knew I wanted to continue that legacy—capturing meaningful moments my family could treasure for generations.

This passion grew into my business, where I help families tell their unique stories and celebrate their love through authentic, heartfelt photography. Being welcomed into my clients’ lives and growing alongside them is my greatest joy, as I create timeless artwork that preserves their legacy for years to come.

What do you love the most about owning a business in Massachusetts?

One of the things I love most about working in Massachusetts is the endless variety of breathtaking locations for outdoor sessions. From the historic charm of Boston to the stunning beaches and lush landscapes of the South Shore, there’s no shortage of inspiring backdrops to capture families’ unique stories.

Massachusetts’ changing seasons also provide a beautiful canvas—whether it’s the vibrant colors of fall, the soft blooms of spring, or the golden light of summer. Each setting adds its own character and charm, helping me create timeless, heirloom-quality artwork for my clients.

Being a part of this community allows me to connect with families who value preserving their legacies and celebrating life’s most precious moments. It’s a privilege to document their journeys in such a picturesque and meaningful place.

What are your favorite small businesses to support in Massachusetts?

I could go on for pages about the local businesses I love to support, but here are a few of my favorites!

The Collective Co, Scituate: Being a part of this inspiring community has been a game changer. The cozy workspace, endless connections, and the motivation that comes from being surrounded by other driven members are truly next level.

Lady Sunshine Coffee: Elizabeth serves up more than just amazing coffee around the South Shore—she offers a sense of connection and encouragement that I look forward to every time I visit. My go-to spot to catch her is at Verde Salon in Braintree, but wherever she pops up, her coffee and conversation are always top-notch.

Kaizen, Norwell: This isn’t just a small business; it’s a place that’s benefitted my entire family. After meeting Rachel through Girl Gang, it was an easy decision to dive into classes at Kaizen and introduce my kids to Jiu Jitsu. If you’re on the South Shore, this is a must-visit!

Tiny Kitchen Cookie Company: For the past five years, Jenn has been my go-to for beautifully crafted (and delicious!) cookies. Her talent as a cookie artist is unmatched, and I even had the chance to take one of her decorating classes—a fun experience, though I’ll leave the expert designs to her!

Simply the Best by Nicole: Nicole’s timeless and elegant jewelry pieces have been a favorite of mine for years. Her warmth and creativity made it an easy choice to include her as a vendor at my studio’s grand opening. Her permanent and handmade jewelry is a must-have for anyone looking for special, one-of-a-kind pieces.

These are just a few of the amazing local businesses I adore. Each has played a role in my growth as a business owner and in enriching my life personally and professionally. I look forward to sharing even more of my favorites in a future blog because, truly, I could talk all day about the incredible small businesses on the South Shore!

What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned throughout my career is the value of embracing a community over competition mindset. In an industry that can sometimes feel isolating as a solopreneur, I’ve come to see others in my field as collaborators rather than competitors—like co-workers who understand the unique challenges and joys of this work.

Having a supportive community to share ideas, seek advice, and connect with has been invaluable. It’s a reminder that success isn’t about competition but about building meaningful relationships and serving clients in the best way possible.

While I’m passionate about providing a luxury experience for my clients, I’m equally committed to ensuring they find the right fit for their needs. If I can’t accommodate a client’s timeline or if we’re not the best match, I’m always happy to refer them to another photographer who might be. This approach not only supports my clients but strengthens the sense of collaboration within our industry.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?

If I weren’t in my current position, I’d still be living my dream because I was fortunate enough to fulfill it before starting my business in 2022. From a very young age, I dreamed of being a mother and staying home to raise my children during their early years. Now, I’m lucky to enjoy the best of both worlds—running a business I’m passionate about while still being there to see my kids off to school, handle pick-ups, attend sports, dance classes, and swim lessons, and host playdates.

I’m incredibly blessed to have the support of my family, which allows me to balance these two dreams and make them my daily reality. It’s a gift I never take for granted and one that inspires my work as I help other families preserve their own cherished moments.

When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me with my husband and our five kids, making the most of our time together. We love exploring new parks, spending days at the beach, visiting the zoo, catching movies, or simply relaxing at home with friends and family. These moments of connection and adventure are what inspire me most in my work and remind me of the beauty in everyday life.
