Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do at your Chamber of Commerce?
Hi, I’m Alessandra Hagerty, Deputy Director of the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce. I bring over 15 years of advertising sales and marketing experience, and my role focuses on supporting local businesses and promoting the Island as a premier destination.
What made you want to work for the Chamber of Commerce?
Having a deep connection to Martha’s Vineyard and a passion for supporting local businesses, I was excited to join the Chamber to help enhance the economic vitality of the island and ensure that our business community thrives year-round.
What do you love the most about the area where you live in Massachusetts?
I love the close-knit community and natural beauty of Martha’s Vineyard. Having spent summers here and now living year-round in Edgartown, I appreciate the island’s charm and the sense of belonging it provides.
Why do you think it’s important for everyone to be a member of a Chamber of Commerce?
Being a member of the Chamber of Commerce connects you with invaluable resources, networking opportunities, and a collective voice that helps drive business success. It’s a great way to support local economies and foster collaboration.
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of building strong relationships and staying adaptable. Whether in advertising, event planning, or community engagement, success comes from collaboration and being open to change.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?
If I weren’t in my current role, I’d love to be a travel writer or blogger. My family and I love to travel, and being able to explore new places while sharing those experiences with others sounds like a dream job to me!
When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?
I love going to the beach and traveling with my family creating new memories together. Whether we’re exploring new destinations or enjoying the beauty of Martha’s Vineyard.
