Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do at your Chamber of Commerce?

I’m Amy Naples, Executive Director of the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce.

What made you want to work for the Chamber of Commerce?

I wanted to be in a position where I could not only support local businesses, but also help learned their stories, advocate for their needs, and create opportunities for them to thrive. There’s something incredibly meaningful about being part of a chamber, and helping a new business open its doors, watching partnerships form, or seeing an event bring people together in a way that strengthens the entire region.

What do you love the most about the area where you live in Massachusetts?

The coastline is a big part of what I love most, in addition to the changing seasons, the harbor views, and the rich history woven into our communities. At the same time, the energy of the local business community is what really brings the area to life. Our downtowns are full of character, with mom-and-pop shops that have stories behind them, unique restaurants you won’t find anywhere else, and small businesses that truly care about the people they serve. It’s that combination of the coastal charm paired with a thriving, passionate business community!

Why do you think it’s important for everyone to be a member of a Chamber of Commerce?

Being part of a Chamber of Commerce is about connection and collective impact. We bring people together to build relationships, share ideas, and create opportunities that are hard to achieve alone. It also gives businesses a stronger, unified voice when it comes to advocacy and supporting economic growth. Beyond networking and visibility, it’s about community. The more people involved, the stronger and more vibrant the local business environment becomes. A Chamber works best when it reflects all industries and business sizes.

What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

Flexibility matters! Things rarely go exactly as planned, and being able to adapt while staying focused on your purpose is key.

If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?

Owner of a doggie daycare!

When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?

Spending time outside, walking the beach with my two pups, playing golf and spending time with family.
