Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do at your Chamber of Commerce?

Hi there! My name is Brianna and I am the Membership Director at the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce. I have a background in hospitality management and have worked in a few different segments of that industry before entering the chamber world. I’m originally from Peabody, so it’s been so wonderful working to further the business community in my hometown!

What made you want to work for the Chamber of Commerce?

I have always been a huge fan of supporting small, local businesses. During the holiday season I try to buy as many gifts as I can from small businesses and overall I really value more conscious consumption and entrepreneurship. With that being said, when I saw an opportunity to support my own local business community, I was so excited! The Membership Director role at the PACC had a lot of parallels with previous roles I’ve had, and I was enthusiastic about learning this new industry and connecting with and supporting business owners.

What do you love the most about the area where you live in Massachusetts?

I LOVE the North Shore! I love that we have easy access to so many different attractions like beaches, NH mountains, so many quaint coastal towns, and of course the city! There is so much beauty in the North Shore communities and I’m so proud of where I live.

Why do you think it’s important for everyone to be a member of a Chamber of Commerce?

It’s important to be a member of a Chamber of Commerce so that your voice can be heard in local and state issues affecting your business. Local legislators turn to chambers to represent the local business community, and being a member gives you a seat at that table. In addition to that, there are so many opportunities to grow your business, get your brand seen, and make meaningful connections with other professionals – it’s a no brainer!

What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?

I’ve been out of college for 5 years now, and I feel like I’ve learned A LOT during that time. I’ve learned what burnout can do to your health, and I’ve also learned how impactful a healthy work life balance can be. I think the biggest lesson so far though is to keep searching for a job you love – it’s always worth it to try new things no matter the outcome!

If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?

If I weren’t working at the chamber, my dream job would be in interior design.

When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?

I love going to the beach, checking out new restaurants with my fiance, traveling, trying different exercise classes, and spending time with friends!
