Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do at your Chamber of Commerce?
Hello everyone! My name is Christine Ross, and I am the Executive Director of the Sandwich Chamber of Commerce. In this role, I oversee the operations, programs, and initiatives of the Chamber, working closely with our Board of Directors, committee members, and community partners to support, promote, and advocate for our local businesses.
What made you want to work for the Chamber of Commerce?
I was drawn to the opportunity to work for the Chamber of Commerce because of my passion for building strong communities and supporting economic development. Coming from a background in healthcare operations, nursing administration, and business to business development I was eager to transition into a role where I could directly impact the growth and success of local businesses. The Chamber’s mission of promoting a thriving business environment and fostering connections resonated deeply with me.
I would like to express my gratitude to the Sandwich community for their support and engagement with the Chamber of Commerce. It’s an honor to serve in this role and work alongside dedicated individuals who are passionate about the success of our local businesses and the vitality of our town. I look forward to continuing to build strong partnerships and contributing to the growth and prosperity of Sandwich.
What do you love the most about the area where you live in Massachusetts?
One of the things I love most about living in Sandwich, Massachusetts, is the strong sense of community and the beautiful natural surroundings. Sandwich is a historic town with a rich cultural heritage, charming architecture, and a vibrant town center. At the same time, it offers easy access to stunning beaches, hiking trails, and outdoor recreational activities. The combination of a tight-knit community and natural beauty creates a wonderful quality of life.
Why do you think it’s important for everyone to be a member of a Chamber of Commerce?
Membership in a Chamber of Commerce is invaluable for businesses of all sizes. The Chamber provides a platform for networking, collaboration, and support among local businesses. It advocates for policies and initiatives that create a favorable business climate, and it offers resources, education, and marketing opportunities to help businesses thrive. Additionally, being a Chamber member demonstrates a commitment to the community and can enhance a business’s credibility and visibility.
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned throughout my career is the importance of adaptability and continuous learning. The business landscape is constantly evolving, and it’s crucial to remain open-minded, embrace change, and actively seek out new knowledge and skills. This mindset has allowed me to navigate various challenges and transitions successfully, including my recent move from healthcare to the Chamber of Commerce.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?
If I weren’t in my current role as Executive Director, my dream job would be to work as a consultant or advisor, helping small businesses and entrepreneurs develop and implement successful strategies for growth and sustainability. I find great satisfaction in empowering others and contributing to their success, and I believe my diverse professional experience would allow me to provide valuable insights and guidance.
When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring the beautiful natural areas around Sandwich. I’m an avid hiker and love taking walks along the beach or on the local trails. I also enjoy reading, trying new recipes, and spending quality time with family and friends. A significant portion of my free time is spent at the baseball field cheering on my son or at gymnastics meets supporting my daughter. Despite my busy schedule, I always make it a priority to be present and involved in my children’s activities and interests.
