Introduce yourself! Who are you and what do you do at your Chamber of Commerce?
My name is Sherri Hannon, and I’m the Director of Programs & Services at the Tri-County Regional Chamber.
What made you want to work for the Chamber of Commerce?
I’ve always seen the Chamber of Commerce as a valuable resource throughout my sales career. I made a point to attend events—not just to network, but to really stay connected with the local business community. In my previous roles, I specialized in marketing and advertising solutions for small businesses, so I’ve always been passionate about helping them grow and succeed.
When I found myself feeling unfulfilled in a past position, I happened to see that the Tri-County Regional Chamber (formerly Milford Regional Chamber) was hiring. I already knew Laura O’Callaghan, and we had always gotten along well and shared the same enthusiasm for supporting local businesses. It just felt like the right opportunity at the right time—and a natural next step for me. Joining the Chamber has allowed me to combine my professional background with my passion for community, and I’m genuinely excited to be part of something that makes a real impact.
What do you love the most about the area where you live in Massachusetts?
I grew up in Milford, so this region has always felt like home to me. I recently moved to Uxbridge and while I’m still getting to know the area, I’m already loving the peaceful, small-town vibe. There are so many beautiful spots for nature walks, which I really enjoy, and the fact that my commute is only 12 minutes is just the icing on the cake. It’s the perfect balance of quiet and connected.
Why do you think it’s important for everyone to be a member of a Chamber of Commerce?
I think being a Chamber member is one of the smartest things a business can do—no matter the size or industry. It’s not just about networking (although that’s a huge plus); it’s about being part of a larger community that supports one another. The Chamber connects you with local resources and provides visibility for your business.
It also builds trust. When you’re part of the Chamber, you’re showing your customers and peers that you’re invested in your community and committed to growth. It’s like having a built-in support system that’s always looking out for you and cheering you on.
What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned throughout your career?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in my career is that while setting goals is absolutely important, being flexible is just as essential. Things don’t always go as planned—industries evolve, circumstances shift, and opportunities come from unexpected places. I’ve learned that it’s okay to adjust your goals along the way. In fact, being open to change often leads to growth you never saw coming.
If you weren’t in your current position, what would your next dream job be?
Does “retired on a beach with a fruity drink in hand” count as a dream job? Because that sounds pretty amazing. But honestly, I think I might already be in my dream job. I get to support local businesses, be involved in my community, and still have the flexibility to show up for my 13-year-old’s sporting events or help out at school events. Plus, I learn something new every day—no two days are ever the same in the Chamber world, and I love that. It keeps me on my toes… and slightly over-caffeinated!
When you’re not working, what activities do you enjoy?
When I’m not working, I really enjoy spending time with my family. Most of my weekends are spent on the sidelines—whether it’s football, basketball, or whatever sport is in season!
