Part-Time Executive Director for the Truro Chamber of Commerce

As the Truro Chamber of Commerce approaches the upcoming 2023 season, they’re implementing changes that will further the goals of the organization, strengthen their community, and build their membership. They’re leading a search for a new Executive Director to replace Jane Peters after her years of service to their community.

The Executive Director is responsible and accountable to the Board of Directors to provide executive leadership to the Truro Chamber of Commerce. This position will include 8 hours weekly in the off-season and 16 hours in-season.

In addition to executing financial and personnel management responsibilities, the Executive Director will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including management of programs, staffing, membership & annual membership drive and marketing efforts
  • Develop goals and objectives for recommendation to the Board
  • Build relationships within the community
  • Direct the annual and long-term planning process
  • Fulfill the officer and committee responsibilities assigned to the President in the Chamber by- laws
  • Attend Chamber Board committee meetings and provide staff support to committee efforts
  • Oversee organization of Chamber’s Annual Retreat & Events
  • Implement a marketing plan for the chamber to assure a positive community image

Full-Time Executive Director for the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce

The Amesbury Chamber of Commerce seeks a qualified, full-time Executive Director who is enthusiastic, creative, well-organized, and an excellent communicator, capable of functioning well in an independent environment. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in the business community of Amesbury and surrounding areas. They should be reliable, self-motivated, outgoing, and have the ability to motivate others with an executive style that generates respect and support from a wide range of constituents, including large and small businesses, nonprofits, community groups, elected leaders, and staff at local, regional, and state levels.

The primary responsibility for this position is to oversee all operations and activities of the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce and to ensure the advancement of the mission. This includes member recruitment and retention along with member services, economic development, business and civic relations, marketing, policy development and implementation, fundraising, event sponsorship and management, as well as the overall operations which include budget preparation, and bookkeeping.

An ideal candidate is a visionary leader who can effectively attain the strategic ends defined by the Board of Directors. The ED will communicate with, motivate, collaborate, and support staff, chamber members, external partners, and the community at-large.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading and motivating chamber staff and volunteers
  • Ensuring fiscal stability, accountability, and transparency
  • Leading ongoing planning of activities and associated revenue generating initiatives
  • Recommending policy and procedural changes to the board that will allow the Chamber to function effectively and efficiently to meet the goals and mission of the Chamber
  • Maintaining a visible and proactive profile in the community
  • Pursuing opportunities to keep the Chamber innovative while aligning with the mission
  • Promoting the organization, the staff, and their accomplishments to the community
  • Serving at the direction of the Board of Directors
  • Cultivating positive relationships with city, county, state, and federal elected officials and staff
