Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce Seeks Executive Director

The Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce (MVCC), a prominent not for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the economic vitality and tourism development of Martha’s Vineyard, has announced the launch of a search for a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the position of Executive Director.

As the voice of business and tourism for Martha’s Vineyard’s six towns, the MVCC plays a crucial role in fostering a prosperous business environment while promoting the Vineyard as a premier destination. The Executive Director will lead the Chamber in its mission to support the economic health of the region by implementing strategic initiatives and providing resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities for its members.

The ideal candidate will not only already live on Martha’s Vineyard, but also possess an entrepreneurial spirit, exemplary leadership skills, and a passion for tourism marketing. They should excel in fostering strong relationships within the community and be adept at driving consensus among diverse stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of the Executive Director include:

  • Overseeing all aspects of Chamber business and activities, including fiscal management and strategic planning.
  • Serving as a liaison between the Chamber’s Executive Board of Directors and its various committees.
  • Managing the priorities, direction, and messaging from direct staff and office team members in an efficient manner.
  • Collaborating with regional tourism councils and government representatives to develop and implement effective tourism marketing strategies.
  • Leading membership recruitment and retention efforts with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Representing the Chamber at community events and building strategic alliances with public officials, business leaders, and the media.

Candidates for the position should possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with at least five years of administrative experience, preferably in the tourism or hospitality industry. Strong communication, financial management, and marketing skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
