One Thing AI Can’t Take From You

September 22, 2025  |

I have some people in my life (as you might) who are either 100% in favor of Artificial Intelligence (AI) or are 100% against it. I recently did a webinar where the host said, “the wave [AI] is coming and you either ride it or get knocked over by it, but you cannot stop the wave from coming.”

Having just got back from a glorious trip with my nephews to St. Augustine, Florida (shout out to an AMAZING entrepreneur and his team at Holiday Inn Express St. Augustine – Vilano Beach – check them out on Instagram @holidayinnexpressvilanofl)… I can tell you that waves are NO joke. I think I drank half the Atlantic while boogie boarding and certainly realized that even when I wasn’t ready the wave came (thus the many salty gulps).

So yes, it’s true… AI is here to stay and it is rewriting how we live, work, and interact (whether we want it to or not). You can see it everywhere from chatbots handling customer service to algorithms writing code and curating playlists, it’s easy to feel like we’re all just one upgrade away from being obsolete.

But let me assure you of one thing… AI may be able to process data faster than we can blink, but it will never replace you. Why? Because confidence (the real, human, soul-powered kind) is one thing no bot can replicate.

The Human Advantage: Confidence

Confidence isn’t a plug-in. It’s not downloadable. And it can’t be faked (okay, let’s be honest… it can be, but not well and not usually for long. Plus, I don’t believe ANYONE should need to fake it anyway).

Confidence is what makes a leader inspiring, a team member valuable, and a business owner unstoppable. It’s also what makes people want to follow you, hire you, promote you, and collaborate with you. Machines might be impressive, but they can’t walk into a room and own it. That’s all you, my friend.

Here’s why confidence still wins — and always will.

  • Confidence Drives Connection: AI can deliver facts, but it can’t create genuine relationships. It can’t read a room, respond with emotional intelligence (EQ), or share a story that gives someone goosebumps. Confidence allows us to connect on a deeper, more human level. And in business (and life), that’s where the magic happens. Whether you’re selling, pitching an investor, or leading, people aren’t solely investing in your idea, it’s you they’re investing in.
  • Confidence Breeds Creativity: Machines follow patterns, us (the humans) break them. Confidence is what gives you the courage to take risks, pitch bold ideas, and show up even when you’re unsure of the outcome. Innovation doesn’t come from playing it safe, rather it comes from believing in yourself enough to shake things up. Confidence helps you trust your instincts, advocate for your ideas, and step into spaces others might shy away from. Spoiler alert: those are often the spaces where growth (and breakthroughs) happen.

Flexing Your Confidence Muscle in the Age of AI

Just like any other muscle, at POP!more we remind people that confidence needs a regular workout. Here are three ways to flex your confidence muscle:

  1. Know What You Bring to the Table (Then Own It): Write a list of your top strengths, wins, and quirks. Yes, quirks. You’re not supposed to sound like ChatGPT. Your personality is your superpower.
  2. Stop Comparing, Start Celebrating: A big part of AI is running comparison tests, but truth time… you don’t have to compare yourself (or your company) to anyone else. Honestly, there’s little benefit. Instead, celebrate your progress and unique perspective. That’s where your power lies.
  3. Practice Micro-Bravery: Do one small thing each day that scares you. No, really! Go ahead and send the pitch. Post the video. Ask the question in the meeting. Whatever it is, doing it regularly will add up and build an automatic confidence response over time.

Remember: You’re Still the Secret Sauce

Sure, AI might help you write a killer caption or analyze trends faster than you can say “algorithm,” but it will never replace your energy, your intuition, or your voice.

You are still the most important part of your business or career. AI is just a tool. You are the talent.

And your confidence? That’s your edge. Own it!
